SPINNING WEIGHT LOSS SUCCESS

The Spinning Weight Loss Program: 8 Weeks to Success

When presented with the offer to teach the Spinning® 8-Week Weight Loss Program, I was excited, but not sure what to expect. It was the first program of its kind to take place in my facility and the participants are all novice exercisers with limited Spinning experience. So far, the experience has been motivating, fun and refreshing.

The structure of the program is simple and easy to follow. We meet once a week to review basic exercise goals and nutrition, explore challenges of the week and create healthy plans for the future. Following the lecture is a challenging 40-minute Spinning class. That’s all there is to it: educating and exercising!

During our first meeting, the students were introduced to the bike and the program in general. They also had their first Spinning class. The experience was groundbreaking. As group leader, I was impressed with their willingness to jump in and start riding even though they had never taken a class. Of course the first class was challenging, but it just got easier after that.

All of the students have been exceptional with their positive attitudes and continued dedication, but one student stands out overall. Like the others, Darrick walked in with no previous Spinning experience. He was very overweight and had little exercise history. I knew that he was in the right place. Even though he had the most weight to lose, he also had the most enthusiasm and the biggest smile in the room.

I encouraged the participants to take additional Spinning classes throughout the week to get the most out of the program. The very next day, Darrick was in my evening class. He struggled, but made it through and the hard work paid off. When he attended the Spinning Weight Loss session the next week, and he was stronger and in better condition. He has attended every one of my Spinning classes since committing to the eight-week program.

A few weeks after starting the program, Darrick even asked if he could join my yoga class. I was thrilled to have him. Since then, he has attended class on a weekly basis. I believe that Spinning has given him the self-confidence and motivation to try other healthy formats for weight loss. In fact, when we took weight and measurements halfway through the program, he had lost eight pounds and six inches! His endless enthusiasm and commitment continues to inspire us all.

It has been so rewarding to work with a novice group of exercisers on a weekly basis. Many of them entered into the program in a state of anticipation and fear of the unknown, but they all had one thing in common: they wanted to lose the weight. The Spinning 8-Week Weight Loss Program has given them a venue in which to exercise in a safe and controlled environment with other like-minded individuals. Now my new students are taking Spinning classes on a regular basis from many different instructors and enjoying the ride.

*The last class of the 8-week program was December 2, 2009 and Darrick lost 21.2 pounds and 19.5 inches!

AS OF FEBRUARY 10, 2009- DARRICK HAS LOST 40 POUNDS AND IS CONTINUING THE PROGRAM.
